How To Stay Motivated

We all have goals and aspirations. Usually at the beginning we feel excited and motivated to achieve those goals but sometimes along the way we can get tired and disheartened for some reason and we lose our motivation. Lately, there's this fresh excitement bubbling up inside of me that helps me get up in the morning with enthusiasm and to look forward to the days ahead. I want to share with you some quick tips on how to stay motivated.

1. Focus on what God is doing and not on what He is not doing When we look at our goals list or prayer list and see the unchecked boxes it can be discouraging. Instead of focusing on the things that are not happening, see what God is actually doing. “But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬ As an example, I have been praying for something that I can do to help our family financially. I am only working part time and it can get scary sometimes not having that financial security (at least based on the worlds standards). But then God would always tell me "You are where I want you to be" and He would remind me that security is found in Him and that looking back at our lives, I can see how we have never lacked. God has been providing our every need and more. I can't help but be grateful. I get to spend time with my kids at home, nurture and serve them with joy knowing that this is where I am supposed to be. 2. Be around like-minded people I can't over emphasize how important it is to be around people that is going the same direction as you and have the same goals. If you want to be fit - be with people who are fit or want to be fit. If you want to be godly - be around godly people. I am blessed to be a part of an awesome community of God loving people that has the same heart as mine. Find those people in your life who can encourage (and admonish) you and cling to them. “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬ 3. Ask God to inspire and motivate you Ultimately it is God who can spring that motivation up inside of you. All you need to do is ask. “For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.” ‭‭Philippians 2:13‬ ‭AMP‬‬ Looking at the Bible, God would stir the people's hearts by speaking His plans and promises over them. Ask God to do the same for you. And as you pray and read the Bible you will be excited and be motivated to do the things He is asking you to do. CONCLUSION If you are trying to reach a goal, you don't have time to waste being uninspired. Time is precious. If you see yourself lacking zealousness pray and encourage yourself in the Lord. Sometimes you have to fake it till you make it. Get up, push yourself, and look unto Jesus.
